I heard in the background something said about "a hand being offered to America if they would unclench their fist", i think that referred to Iran . . . did anyone else hear it?!

I don't think he was purely referring to Iran, although it's obviously one of the countries Obama considers to have a "clenched fist". Venezuela, Cuba and North Korea also come to mind.

The comments are coming in and the Inauguration has just taken place, no doubt there will be more offers with loaded remarks from other countries to the USA.

I've decided to deliberately live in denial. Ah, that is much, much better!

What a day.
Went to Harlem state building to watch inauguration, freezing my arse off in the process. I greatly amused myself at the whooping and hollering from the crowd and was mightily impressed by the Obamessiah's speech and the slience of the cowd whilst he spoke.
Smirked at the obvious Bush hatred coming from the crowd. Managed to offend a few people for refusing to take an American flag (I was excited but not that excited.)
Went into state building and was laughed at for my accent, (apparently the use of the term 'is it possible' is very funny). Saw a hot bunch of fireman and one of them let me touch his axe.
Then went to an Obama party at a Soul food restaurant where my cousin came out to me, I was felt up by a lesbian, tried candied yams for the first time and was very naughty with a delightful Cuban/Lebanese mix.
Also got completely wasted on cocktails most of which my accent paid for.
I love America.

I don't have a brummie accent (do you people never listen?)
I am however pissed that cocktails has been edited out.

We listen, we just don't believe you. I mean you would say that, and anyway you probably can't hear it.
Thingytails makes me giggle.

Ok, but I genuinely don't have a Brummie accent. Never have. Not everybody has city specific accents you know!

I actually think you sound like a Brummie pretending to be an American. You'll have to record yourself and upload it some day.

Ho, ho, ho. I hate fake yank accents. Only like real ones. I actually wouldn't lie if I had a Brummie accent. I just don't.

cocktails? My guess is that Vania will be drinking some utterly wet, stupid, girly cocktails, like Cosmopolitans or Pina Coladas. Or perhaps a frozen strawberry dacquiri.
Nothing classy, like a gin fizz, and certainly no proper cocktail like a whiskey sour or a negroni or an old fashioned.

What the hell? How can Fandy post them? Don't like Pinas and daiquiris only good on the beach.
Hate whisky, gin is pisswater and no idea what a negroni is.
At the moment I am stuck on Caipirinhas, Mojitos and anything champagne based. Hmm.

Oh. Mainstream but not bad drinks.
Proper champagne cocktails, or bellini type things?
And I can post about cocktails because I'm the spoonmaster general.

Bellinis mainly, crack babies and also a whole range of champage plus vodka plus fruit puree cocktails.
