Blind man breaks speed record A blind man is claiming a world record by reaching a speed of 144mph in a £58,000 car. Mike Newman was alone behind the wheel of a Jaguar XRJ 4.2 car during the record bid at Elvington Airfield, near York. LINK

Fascinating, no doubt about it.
I thought that the 'Phantom limb' syndrome would come under neurological rather than psychological. The nerve pathways would all still be there, so there surely would still be impulses. It must be a very weird sensation

Yes it is in the neurological rather than the psychological, the nerves may have been severed at the amputation but not in the brain and phantom limb also happens to people born without the limb/limbs where no actual severing has taken place.

AckChuAlley
the correct terminology is Neuropsychology seeing the brain 'is' the central nervous system.

I just watched again M. He had so many clues to draw that. His paintings are like childrens. Like you said, loosing a sense sharpens others. Nothing fabulous going on there imo.

Close your eyes, get a pen and write down your name. What does that say? Is it readable? Yes, Why?

The fact that he has never seen light, colour and shape, not to mention the complexity of perspective and depth is what makes it so exceptional. That is iust imagination Maybe the imagination makes a lot of difference? Does it to you? Does it make you see things differently.
