nope , or at least in search when it comes up I cant . Says windows cant open it, so I presume if I find it lurking around somewhere else in the bowels of where files and folders live , the same will apply

lol.I dont ...and never will I dont think, understand what the feck this is all about .I just know that Ive never used outlook -see no reason for it ,and most definitely never will .I dont understand why you have to use search to find a folder you made .I dont understand why it won't open or why it won't copy .Perhaps someone will come along and say " ohhh you just click this that and that and voila " ,but I have a feeling there's something wrong with the file. You also can't send it anywhere I presume as well as not being able to drag it or copy it ?

ah it'll open in outlook express alright and is usable there. You just cant send or copy it outside of OE. I found the folder contents and its saved at the location of ........... C:\Documents and Settings\home\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{28D01B73-D523-4714-AEF8-48F06C1C44E1}\Microsoft\Outlook Express\FLY HOOKS.dbx.......... but it appears that I can do feck all with it as it wont open or save to usb stick etc.

yes well ,if some people would remember it's a qwertz keyboard and not a qwerty they might not need lights or visible letters

I'm definitely stumped, if only because I simply don't know of what file can be opened and viewed in Outlook but not printed or saved in a different format.

In fact, you seem to have gone to extreme lengths to accomplish a simple task in the most incredibly obscure way.
Not for the first time...

It's still fixable though. If you have a valid .dbx file you can re-import it into Outlook, then export the contacts as a .csv which can be read by notepad, databases, etc...
I think perhaps it might be a job for the witch doctor though, as unless you're sure of what you're doing, it's possible to overwrite your current messages.

just a quick question , why would I need to reimport it into outlook when its already in there ? well, complete guesswork here ,but I'm sure you should be able to copy and paste it etc etc ,which makes it sound like it's a corrupt file in some way .So errrr maybe importing it again would fix something .

Because it's not there in any kind of usable way, as you said. All you can do is view it, not use the contents.

Im presuming this would just save the email addresses ? not the actual emails . If so, this is OK although the email itself would be good if there is a way
