Got to agree with Jimbo. The US remains uncomfortably hung-up on 9/11, and particularly on the mawkish, intensely sincere remembrance side of it.

To be fair, in America it is 9/11 (moronic though the US convention on dates is). And the World Trade Center towers were in the US. So it's not completely outrageous of the Americans to call in 9/11.

I don't think the mawkishness is necessarily a left right thing, NBC is just as OTT on this stuff as Faux News tbh.
Thing is there appears to be a thing now among politicians of all side 'to be seen' to be all over this year in year out or they risk being attacked for not 'honoring our fallen dead' and the like.
