well, only a fool couldn't have foreseen this happening The US is pulling out all of its troops from northern Syria as Turkey advances its operation against the Kurds. Defence Secretary Mark Esper said Turkey "likely intends" to extend its attack further than originally planned. The assault is aimed at forcing out Kurdish forces - the main US ally in the area. They may be seeking help from Syria and Russia, said Mr Esper, and the US would not be defending them. Later the Kurds said they had agreed Syria would deploy troops in the area. Syrian state TV had already announced the army was heading north to confront Turkish forces. www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-50034802

Hmmmm .... it's crossed my mind a couple of times that there's a tacit understanding that some political ends need tying up here and that there's an opportunity to resolve the issue with the IS prisoners and their families.
By resolve, I mean liquidate. Plausible deniability. I suspect the Syrians would be happy to be blamed, without admitting to anything. Similarly the Kurds might be happy to do the necessary, so long as nothing can be proved.

doesn't matter if you're sure or not, there's plenty of reporting to attest this.

Why no outrage from the left when Obama pulled troops out of Iraq? Where was the lefts "concern" for the Kurds when Obama refused to send troops to Syria? Where was the left when Obama downplayed ISIS as an amateurish JV team?

Bloody hell, it took four years to pull American troops from Iraq, bringing an end to the Iraq war, it didn't happen overnight, unlike the US troops from the Turkey and Syrian border, which have only been there since 2017, after, Turkey killed US-backed Kurdish fighters.

Meh. Trump - “Fighting between various groups that has been going on for hundreds of years. USA should never have been in Middle East,” Trump said in a series of morning tweets. “The stupid endless wars, for us, are ending!” The right cheers. The left trashes it. "Biden promises to end ‘forever wars’" www.militarytimes.com/news/pentagon-congress/2019/07/11/biden-promises-to-end-forever-wars-as-president/The left cheers Biden. Obama said the same thing. The left cheered. Trump says the same thing and the left boos. It's all about who you support or don't support.

What you need to remember, it was the republicans ( Bush and B-liar)) who invaded Iraq in the first place, you are right, it should never have happened .

USA should never have been in Middle East,” Trump said in a series of morning tweets. That part is arguably true. And the drunk driver shouldn't have got into the bus and started driving it at 100mph through the middle of Disneyland. But once he's doing that, he should carefully press the brake, steer it as well as he can, and then leave. He shouldn't just jump out of the bus while it's hurtling at 100mph towards yet another massive crowd.
