Why is the fact she is trans relevant to the story? I wonder if they would ever say that she was Jewish, Black, American etc.

There are reasons why her trans-ness could be relevant to the story:

Is she "transitioning" but not actually transitioning in order to dodge male prisons?

Or, worse, to get into female prison to be more rapey?

Is she transitioning and getting her cock chopped off because she thinks it'll make her less rapey?

Did her dysphoria actually trigger her rapeyness?

Is any of these were true it would be worth making a major point of the story. Nowhere does the article suggest any of these are the case, so either the article is missing some crucial info, or it's digging into transphobia with no good reason.

Whichever it is, it's time to shut down the BBC for being a right wing cesspit of misinformation.
