I’ve said it before, but it’s a bit weird to see that both those on the left and right make common cause with Putin. Normally, once you see where the Tucker Carlsons and Silvio Berlusconis and Victor Orbans stand, you stay well clear of that if you’re on the left. And vice versa.

Brazil looks like it might be about to kick off. The far right, as ever, not accepting they can't win elections so have taken to the streets, the violence from the far right is already starting. And we know the military and large sections of the police can't be relied on.

Yeah, democracy is on the wane in the face of the far right, and, same as last time, too many are apathetic or quietly happy as they think it's only centrists and center lefties that will be on the receiving end. They were wrong before and are wrong now.

The right simply doesn't belive in democracy, they are a threat that needs to be taken much more seriously by the moderate center, be it the far right in the US no longer accepting results of free and fair elections, or neo nazis in Germany, these violent far right extremists are emboldened.
