BRASILIA, Oct 28 (Reuters) - Far-right lawmaker Jair Bolsonaro won Brazil's presidential election on Sunday, riding a wave of frustration over corruption and crime that brought a dramatic swing to the right in the world's fourth-largest democracy. With 94 percent of ballots counted, Bolsonaro had 56 percent of the votes in the run-off election against left-wing hopeful Fernando Haddad of the Workers Party (PT), who had 44 percent, according to the electoral authority TSE. news.trust.org/item/20181028230046-ovczzThere is hope for South America afterall, well done!!

4 years later. Commie Lula almost wins an absolute majority in the first round of voting. It's a shame it goes to a second round, but Bolsonaro clearly got a spanking. Which is a relief for almost everyone, particularly Brazilians but also the rest of us given the way that damage to the rainforest was legalised under Bolsonaro's regime.
Of course, the BBC and other western media are reporting that Lula: 49% Bolsonaro: 43% as
"Bolsanaro over-performs his polls" rather than "Bolsonaro got heavily defeated". As always spinning in favour of the right-wing scum.

He's already said it's only legit if he wins otherwise it's proof it was rigged.
Now where have we heard that before.

Ah. The BBC has changed its language. Now it’s not “Bolsonaro overperformed his polls”. Now it’s “Bolsonaro and Lula go into run-off after tight election”.
f**k me. It’s a tight election between Lula and the 50% mark, not a tight election between Lula and Bolsonaro.

If Bolosonaro gets in after this, it's definitely a fix.

The only surprise here is that Lulu didn't get an absolute majority in the first round. Jar is frothing at the mouth of course, threatening a coup and an uprising. The right, violent, undemocratic scum the world over.

it's only democracy when you win the election, if the right candidate wins it is clearly rigged,

Well if you're on the right that's certainly the case, the center accepts the will of the people, the right simply don't. It's why your red states are pushing to be able to overtune the will of the people and send the electors they prefer instead, and the extremists on your Supreme Court look set to allow them

It sounds like that there was an attempted coup by police who tried to stop hundreds of thousands from voting, but despite people trying to rig the game Bolsonaro lost and Lula won today, which is great news if true.

The far right still won the congress, so while good sence has prevailed and Lulu won the presidential race, it's still going to be a rocky road.
Also the threat of violence from the far right is still very real.

Seems like it but the new corrupt scumbag may be marginally better than the old corrupt scumbag.
