No, it's clearly a domestic abuse case, but one involving Met officers. True, so why were they compensated by the Met and why are they back for more? The whole thing reads like these two women have sat down with a claims lawyer and sketched out an all-scenarios claim with the aim of getting the biggest payout that they possibly can from as many pots as possible. |

Really? It reads like they complained to the Met, the Met handed it off to other police in Essex who totally f**k*d up the investigation, and the Met tried to brush their f**k-up under the carpet by bribing the two women but because the investigation was a full blown cock-up, possibly deliberately given that it's the police investigating their own, there was no way to actually prosecute or even sack the violent rapist cop.

It's probably not fair to say that the Met "handed it off" to Essex dibble. I suspect that's SOP to have another force investigate precisely in the interests of objectivity.

The met must have thought he's done something nasty to pay out, but with a botched investigation probably had no grounds to drum him out and bang him up.

No. I think it's about the fact that the Met have done nothing to prosecute, or even discipline, a bloke who seems to have a track record of rape and abuse. And given that the official channels have failed, they've had to go public. |

Actually it probably started when they had to move to the provinces because they couldn’t afford to be in London. It wasn't a case of not being able to afford to stay in London. It was government policy that all such organisations would not be support to remain in London in order to encourage them to decentralise and spread opportunities to other parts of the country. How successful that has been is debatable. I think Bristol's done okay out of it. |
