I don't need to do that. It's neither here nor there to a discussion about how Biden has massively mis-managed this exit and showed the US to be a giant retarded baby squirming in its own incontinence. That being said, maybe the World's superpower might have been able to bring order to a runway long enough to cover its wretched departure .... www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/world-asia-58226712So, like everyone else: "This has been a disaster. But I offer no suggestion on how it could have been done better." Feeble. Not the question. I am not POTUS. Not my job. If that's the best defence you've got for Biden, he's fuxked. He wasn't made POTUS in a lottery FFS. He knew this was coming and he's massively bungled it. The US look like utter turds.

Though nation building is far more than air support or thousands of foreign troops fighting Afghanistan's civil wars for them, 20 years to tackle corruption - nothing achieved, no building of an effective civil service or judiciary and so on. In fact many are welcoming the Taliban cos they don't have to pay bribe after bribe to the court or to official to get things done now. How bad must it have been for some to say 'phew the Taliban are now in charge of city hall, things might be less corrupt now'? Yes, America has made a dog's breakfast of this from the get-go. What did two-term St. Barry achieve?

The idea Bush and his neo cons had back in 2001 that all they needed to do was roll in and tell the Afghans how free they were now and they would suddenly become the Denmark of 'stans' was risible at the time and 20 years later its still much the same. Same as saying this is all Bidens fault, I mean how idiotic do you need to be to think that? Who's saying this is all Biden's fault? Screeeech!

I've seen a lot of takes about how "disastrous" western intervention has been. I'm not sure it's been that disastrous for most Afghans - things seem to be going back to where they were 20 years ago. The Taliban are in charge. It's not disastrous in the sense of taking a poor situation and making it much, much worse like the US did in Vietnam or the US did in Panama or the US did in Iraq or the US did in Somalia. It's taking a disastrous situation to start with and ending up with the same disastrous situation. It's been pretty disastrous for the US taxpayer and very disastrous for the people who've died in the past 20 years. But it's not been disastrous in the way it's presented by some. Well yes it seem like...well we’re just where we were 20 years ago. Yes, plus a few tens of thousands of dead and many, many more wounded. Plus America's standing in ruins.

Exactly, no wonder they're keen to paint every loony with a gun as an Intel terrorist.
An army of the heavily-armed and involuntarily celibate has just handed Joe Biden his arse on a silver platter.

Have no idea why POTUS can't just tell the truth, using a simple phrase," we came, we saw, we lost".

Troops were leaving in those huge military planes, with Afghans hanging and holding on to the outside of the plane, when it took off the poor buggers fell off, coming down to earth to their deaths. It was awful to watch.

Yep. Great optics Joe Biden. What is it exactly that he's in charge of again?

Twitter banned Donald Trump for expressing support for rioters who stormed the US Capitol. Twitter permitted the Taliban official spokesman to live-tweet Mujahideen terror, the acquisition of arms, storming the Afghanistan capital, and the occupation of the presidential palace,” Interesting social media coverage from Twitter..

Nothing like Saigon. It's much, much worse. Still, at least we've got some fresh new reference photos for American cynicism.

How in the name of fuck can anyone think that clinging to the outside of a plane wouldn't end in their death?

A Taliban spokesman contacted The BBC today to confirm they are now in control of Bradford, Oldham, Luton and Rochdale and expect to be running London by the weekend.

The two main tribes in Afghanistan are the Pashtuns and the Tajiks. Due to the map of Asia being shaped by imperial powers, in this case Britain and Czarist Russia, Pashtuns are divided between Pakistan and Afghanistan and Tajiks between Tajikistan and Afghanistan. The first priority for the new Afghan administration is to avoid cfivil war so I suppose this means power-sharing between Pashtuns and Tajiks to a proportionate extent, as well as taking into account the potential fro division of many other tribes. Looking at this in terms of American party politics and foreign policy is a complete distortion of the reality.

Bet Russia has a few comments to make after America's twenty years in Afghanistan.
When was it when Russia went into Afghanistan and America didn't like it?, so what did Russia do, pulled out allowing America and other NATO forces to enter with no idea that Afghanistan didn't have an army of their own.

How in the name of f uck can anyone think that clinging to the outside of a plane wouldn't end in their death? Maybe they were hoping the plane wouldn't take off if the pilot knew they were onboard outside the plane, or they would rather die than live there anymore.

All this chatter about Biden. Admittedly, Haibatullah Akhundzada isn't a name that just rolls off the tongue, is it?
