Interesting: www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2021/09/01/texas-shows-us-what-post-democracy-america-would-look-like/“ On Wednesday, a Texas law went into effect that bans abortions later than six weeks, after the Supreme Court let pass a request to block the statute. Because 85 to 90 percent of women get abortions after six weeks, it amounts to a near-total ban. Already on the books in Texas is a “trigger” law that automatically bans all abortions, even in cases of rape and incest, if the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade. At least 10 other states have done likewise.” “ Texans also oppose banning all abortions if Roe is overturned, with 53 percent against a ban and 37 percent for one. Women oppose the ban, 58 percent to 33 percent. A narrow plurality (46 percent to 44 percent) oppose the six-week ban, too.” Although close it seems the Texan legislature is out of step with the Texan populace.

Yes a woman traveling to a more civilized state can indeed be persecuted on her return to Texas, she could be targeted by numerous law suits aimed at driving her, and anyone she may have talked to or asked assistance from, to destitution. And that is just mad.

Also, before 6 weeks many women don't know they're pregnant.

That’s exactly why they have set it at that time. According to the WaPo link 85% - 90% of abortions are carried out past 6 weeks.

Texas has got it wrong. The sort of people who have abortions are the ones you don't want breeding anyway.

So, any Texas State legislator who has supported keeping roads and airports open is assisting and abetting women leaving the state for abortions. Which presumably means that the Republican governor and all Republican politicians can all be sued by everyone in the state for the $10,000 bounty for which the litigants will pay no costs and the legislators will have to pay the fine and all costs...

Texas doesn’t have a hotline if you see a man go into a kindergarten with an AR-15, but it does have a hotline if you see a woman go into a Planned Parenthood parking lot with a car.

I doubt the Texas Taliban would ever disband their police, I mean who would keep their women in line if that ever happened

REPUBLICANS -everything the left does is like 1984
ALSO REPUBLICANS - remember to watch your neighbors for illegal use of their bodies. You will be rewarded by the state if you report them.

US President Joe Biden has launched a "whole-of-government" response to oppose a new law in Texas that bans most abortions.
He called the Supreme Court's decision not to block the law an "unprecedented assault" on women's rights.
Any individual now has the right to sue anyone involved with providing or facilitating an abortion past six weeks of pregnancy.
This is before many women know they have conceived.
Rights groups had asked the Supreme Court to block the law, but it refused following a 5-4 vote.
The majority said their decision was not based on any conclusion about whether the Texas law was constitutional or not, and that the door remained open for legal challenges.
But the president said that by allowing the law to stand, the court had unleashed "unconstitutional chaos".
"The highest court of our land will allow millions in Texas in need of critical reproductive care to suffer while courts sift through procedural complexities," he said.
Mr Biden said he had asked the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Justice to see what steps the national government could take to "insulate women and providers", but did not provide any further details.
He said the law violated the landmark Roe v Wade case in 1973, in which the Supreme Court legalised abortion across the US, ruling that women have an unfettered constitutional right to the procedure during their first trimester (12 weeks) of pregnancy.
White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki earlier told reporters that the president had long wanted to see the "codification" of Roe v Wade - which would mean Congress voting to make the precedent federal law.
Texas' Republican Governor Greg Abbott has said his state will "always defend the right to life".

The Texas Taliban are just the tip of the spear where this is concerned. And the court will probably strike down Roe entirely in the late fall sitting, given Moscow Mitch installing 3 religious extremists on the court precisely to do so.
The GOP hate women.

To be all po-faced but given that the state still administers the death penalty, technically it is incorrect to state it will always “defend the right to life”.

This attack on woman by the Texas Taliban has little to do with prolife, this is procontrol of woman's sexuality
