The argument that “only women can comment on abortion” was always a crap one. It’s about individual bodily autonomy. Women should have no greater right to dictate to another woman as to what she can do with her bod.

“ Yes, there is some data out there, but certainly not the volumes of medical information spanning decades and centuries that we rely on for more normal medical procedures.”
This does not sound true.

The Texas GOP isn't done yet. This is f**k**g insane. A new bill moving swiftly through the Republican-controlled Texas legislature would institute a strict statewide dress code for women. Governor Greg Abbott, a vehement supporter of the bill, said that the dress code would benefit women because “it will give them one less thing to think about when they get up in the morning.” “I believe in the sanctity of human life, and the best way to protect that life, in the case of a woman, is to free her from the stress of having to choose what to wear,” Abbott said. (Ha ha, right!) Abbott summarized the new dress code, which bars women from wearing skirts above the knee, sleeveless blouses, and most varieties of pants. “Slacks are fine as long as they have cuffs,” he said. “However, if a woman is caught wearing jeans or dungarees, she will be sent home.” www.newyorker.com/humor/borowitz-report/texas-republicans-back-statewide-dress-code-for-women

But the fact for one second I thought this sounded plausible shows how batty Texas is!

Dress codes are strange things. Suit and ties are so accepted, ingrained in our psyche, few people see just how weird they look. And why do women wear skirts?
