If ever there was an opportunity missed, it was to breed from Margaret and Ronnie. Instead we got Mark.

She was hired by your father as a baby sitter?

Slightly surprisingly, she isn't a fan of sturdy footwear.

I'd take that with a pinch of salt, from the man who once posted...
I'm a Truss truster. Nice, ordinary girl. Like Margaret Thatcher of Blessed Memory

So, when we sold our London flat, I did a Google search of the bloke who bought it. Turns out that the first thing that came up was a Sun (or maybe News of the World) headline "I bonked Carol Thatcher at Number 10".
Oddly, I can't find the headline itself anywhere, although it's mentioned in the Times and Telegraph obituaries of him, and in Times and Daily Mail articles about CThatcher.

Her "partner" is some bubble-permed Swiss ski instructor who looks like might be rather light on his snowshoes.

You’d be hard pressed to find a time when people didn’t claim it was in moral decline.
true, but now the moral rot has accelerated into hyper speed. all you have to do is look at what is happening on the streets of nyc, chicago, and san francisco.

so when does the west finally just throw up it's hands and formally surrender the planet to china? it seems majority opinion is that the west is already dead but the corpse just hasn't fallen over yet.

You'd be hard pressed to find a time in recorded human history that prominent writers were not meaning about moral decline and imminent collapse, usually cos of feckless youth, Aristotle Ciccaro forward, to the Herritage foundation, it's just a thing old men do, always have.

Oh and pinpointing to a moment is impossible, Baloo mentions post WWII when Jim crow was the law in the south, about an immoral a system as you imagine, then its Clinton lies, trivial compared to Nixon. Failed foreign adventures, well there's been a lot, Vietnam, Iran-contra Iraq Afghanistan, propping up vile regimes overseas was never moral nor was black site touched chambers.
Fact is the shining city on a hill thing, we're the best country in the world flag fetishism and everything else the US tells itself are just stories they use to justify things. Not that are alone, how many Bufton Tuftens still witter on about the glory days of the 50s in the UK or that the Empire was this wonderful thing, subjugation and enslaving millions, hardly moral, yet the soft thinkers still pretend otherwise.
Things just change, the old think their time was better.

I think you miss the point about Clinton. It was a trivial private matter (well, apart from the inappropriate nature of relationship) but it was very seedy. The fact was that he was made to jump through sematic hoops in public. The PotUS, made to look like a creepy perv and then lying to the faces of his interrogators. Not a good look.

And LBJ used to whip his junk out at meetings, Kennedy was shagging anything that moved, just as seedy and creepy, but the opposition didn't try and make hey out of it, Ken Star and Gingritch were the first really insane political haters seeking to destroy Clinton cos they hated him, ironically boosting Clinton's popularity massively.

I think you're overstating the importance of one seedy lying President when all the others were seedy, liars, or both (possible exception: Jimmy Carter). It wasn't, actually, that big a deal. Particularly not in international impact. Any more than Kennedy's creepy sex stuff, or Roosevelt basically lying about his health and paralysis, or Nixon obviously, or Reagan actually shovelling weapons to the Ayatollah and Revolutionary Guard...
