Read seven times and no comment yet? Time for one. Give the grandparents the children and tell the crosmaloofs to trawl the internet for victims. Is that plain enough?

The case, in Edinburgh
Now that is a shock. Up until that point in the report, I had my money on Haringey, Brent, Hackney or Lambeth.

That makes me feel sick to the core - and very, very angry. How dare the council do that to anyone? I hope the outcry is very loud and very long, and the stupid bunch of morons get tossed out of their jobs.

Yeah, it sickens me. Not the fudges adopting, they shoddy way in which the Grandparents have been treated. Surely this falls foul of equality laws, ageism at least? If the child was African, being brought up by a witch doctor in a council flat in Haringay (sp?), they wouldn't go near it. But a nice white middle class couple and those council pricks start drooling.

This is very strange. I would have thought that keeping the kids in the family is standard practice unless there are really really good reasons otherwise, and "the grandparents are knocking on a bit" doesn't seem a good reason.
I wonder if there's more to this than the couple are saying.

The will be a lot more.
The children wouldn't be taken away in this manner if it was as simple as the report claims.

forI expect it's because the council has not reached it's monthly target of placing children with gay couples. Respect the diversity, damn you! Respect it!

The council will have a diversity control freak in charge. They better have something against the grandparents or there will be hell to pay. At the moment we don't have enough information.

Whether they have a diversity freak or a militant gay in charge makes no ends, surely there are guidelines set up for social workers to decide on where to place children? I would be very surprised if placing with family members, or even friends of family, is not the first thing they try to do.
I just find it really hard to believe that this is exactly as reported. They have to be so careful making these decisions and the idea that they do it on a whim to please diversity targets is just too hard to swallow - even for me, and I work closely with far too many public sector bodies and spend an inordinate amount of time researching and writing about diversity and inclusiveness.

Apparently there were straight couples looking to adopt as well.
" The final blow came when they were told the children were going to a gay household, even though several heterosexual couples wanted them. "
The grandparents gave up when they ran out of money to contest in court and when they were threatened with never seeing the kids again if they carried on making a fuss. Convicts in prison can use legal aid to take a frivolous case all the way to the ECHR. The gay couple could do the same if they felt that they were being discriminated against. What can a white couple do? Do they get a ton of legal aid for something like this?
Tell me again about how gay rights do not discriminate against straights.

No there won't. This Country is excellent at protesting about situations thousands of miles away form our shores. When it's an issue like this on our own doorstep, we just tut a bit and mutter how awful the thing is.
That's why these 'diversity control freaks' have been allowed to thrive to the point where they are now regarded by many as the voice of sanity and their views have been adopted as 'the norm'. We've allowed it to happen. We're reaping what we've sown.

Yeah well, maybe the gay couple were better suited or had been on the waiting list longer.

I too think there is more to the story than this . Social services only become involved when there are issues
And after reading the story the grandparents were willing to give them up because they didn't want to pay legal bills .
They only started opposing the adoption when they realised the prospective parents were Gay .

It's true. We let the drippies get away with it. Which shows that they are not really needed because if we were as bad as they keep portraying anybody who isn't damp iin the groin then they would have been beaten to a stupid pulp by now.
