Strange you've given a link to an article and haven't bothered to read it yourself. Meaning?

Still bravely taking on the world from a cupboard in the embassy. I suspect a mop might be putting in a sexual harassment claim shortly.

The prosecutor’s change of heart was “demonstrably cynical” in waiting until shortly before the statute of limitations expired to keep Assange “trapped in the UK”, said journalist John Pilger for the Julian Assange Legal Defence Fund.
link THat's hilarious. As if anyone other than Assange was keeping him in the UK. Pilger used to be great. But he's blatantly become a mental dick.

well the cnuts managed to squirm out of the first rape charge, still he's got 5 years before the other rape charge runs out, so i expect he'll have to keep thinking up stunts so no one forgets him. Swedish prosecutors will drop their investigation into sexual assault allegations against Julian Assange on Thursday because of the statutes of limitation, the BBC has learned. The Wikileaks founder still faces the more serious allegation of rape. But prosecutors have run out of time to investigate Mr Assange for sexual assault because they have not succeeded in questioning him. www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-33894757

Over the past year, new information has emerged that both women explicitly deny having been raped by Mr. Assange. In a statement to the UK Supreme Court, the prosecutor acknowledged that the complainants wished only to ask the police for advice about HIV tests, having discovered they’d had both had sex with Mr. Assange. (There has never been an allegation Mr. Assange has HIV.) Neither of the women wished to lodge a formal complaint. Easy enough to find...

Easy enough to find...I'm unconvinced of the neutrality of a site called 'Justice for Assange' and it does not bear out TMBTL's claim that the women "stated on oath that they weren't rapes." Just that they did not claim they were rapes in their statements to police. That's entirely different. I don't clam expertise in Swedish law, but it may be that the police have the authority to lay charges based on statements relating to another matter. So if one woman described what appeared to be a rape (and initiating sex without a condom, with a sleeping woman, when you know she would want you to wear a condom would count as rape in most civilised jurisdictions) then they could make out the charges without the victim having to explicitly as for it.

Why would they have needed to ask the police about HIV tests? Could they not just have been tested by themselves?

And whether they would have found him guilty of rape or not, trying to have sex without a condom when you know somebody would insist you wear one, makes you a massive dick.

I think they wanted to see if they could compel Assange to have an HIV test.

I take no sides in this. Assange seems to be a particularly unsavory piece of work, but then most reporters of his ilk are. For him to have to seek refuge over such a relatively trivial and dubious matter indicates that there could be an alternative agenda on the part of those hounding him.

The police operation to guard the embassy has cost more than £12m.
How idiotic. CCTV cameras could do the job and the cops in the nearest police station could race round and nab him if he leaves the embassy. If he gets away, too bad. He'll be arrested at the airport. Anyway, the UK will have devoted all the effort and money that a single individual, wanted for questioning about Swedish rape, deserves. The conspicuous expense and display of police presence is meant to impress the Americans, I suppose.
